The Victorian era, followed by the George era and the Edward Era, is regarded as the peak of the British Industrial Revolution and the British Empire. Its period is often defined as 1837 to 1901, during the reign of Queen Alexandria Victoria.

Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria all the happiness a woman could have in the most perfect marriage throughout her life.

Therefore, from her personal rule to the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria experienced a series of national political and economic changes, but the happiness of her family dominated her aesthetic tendency. Therefore, jewelry fashion led by queen Victoria in this period was relaxed and pleasant [4].

Romance for more than half a century in the Victorian period

The Victorian period is divided into three different periods: early, middle as well as late. The jewelry of the three periods has their unique artistic characteristics respectively. They learn from each other and form their own schools, creating an unprecedented flourishing age of jewelry design development.

Early Victorian jewelry features nature, animals, and colorful gold. At this time, gold jewelry began to be deeply integrated into religion, such as Gothic and so on. At the same time, enamel became the focus, creating some of the most beautiful jewelry creations ever made.

In the mid-Victorian period, colorful treasures became popular. Commonly seen styles include mosaics, shells, tassels, and garlands. Etruscan jewelry and high-grade diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and pearls are also becoming popular. Agate became a very popular jewelry item. By 1880, gold clasps, gold chains, cuff bracelets and brooches had also become popular accessories.

Towards the end of the Victorian period, diamonds reached the height of their popularity. Birds, insects, and animal-themed jewelry were all given new meaning and new elements began to be incorporated into the jewelry. By the end of the 1880s, colorful pendants and pearls were among the most popular ornaments.
