What is antique jewelry?

Definition of antique jewelry

Jewelry produced about or more than 80 years ago, that is, before 1940, is included in the category of antique. Jewelry made between 20 and 80 years, from 1940 to the 1990s, is called vintage [1].

Therefore, it is not difficult to draw such a conclusion that all the commonly referred to "antique jewelry" is not the real antique jewelry. A considerable part of it is antique jewelry (second-hand jewelry), vintage jewelry with a short production period and jewelry designed in classical style.

At present, the market is mainly concerned about European and Japanese antique jewelry. Today, we are mainly talking about antique jewelry in Europe.

The modern concept of fashion originated in The Middle Ages in Europe, and the history of Antique jewelry in Europe also goes back to the early Middle Ages. Since the Middle Ages, Europe's economic prosperity, a large amount of wealth poured into the upper class, jewelry was sought after by nobles, since the beginning of the Medieval jewelry history of Europe.
